The party starts at 8.00pm and goes on till just gone 11pm.. See you all there I hope.
Part of the Rural Olympics promotion which is being held to encourage all people, old and young, to take up a new interest that will involve a certain amount of physical excercise.
So, have you ever watched the wonderful dancers on TV programmes such as Strictly Come Dancing and Got To Dance and thought 'I would love to be able to dance like they do'?
Well, now is your chance. Come along to one of our FREE taster lessons at The Conservative Club, Longridge on 24th July 2010. These introductory lessons are for complete beginners who may be a bit nervous or unsure of how to take the first steps on the dancefloor.
We will be holding 45 minute sessions on the hour at 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm. Just turn up anytime for any of the classes and join in. Everyone is welcome and we promise not to work you too hard..!!
There will also be a party night the same evening from 8.00pm. Entry is £5.00 on the door.
Rio comes to Longridge in great style
The sun was shining on us when we took part in the annual Field Day Parade through the streets of Longridge.
The weather attracted a huge crowd to see the impressively large procession of local people who had all obviously made a big effort to make their part in the event a day to remember. There were a selection of big floats, pipe bands, children in fancy dress, morris dancers and, bringing up the rear, the Sweet Salsa display team.
Thanks to everyone who took part, Julia and I really appreciate the effort you all put in. We had a fabulous time and hopefully we made an impression on all who saw us doing the rueda on all the roundabouts in the town...
See the salsa gallery for some more photos.
It's party time... Again!
Building on the success of our first two parties we bring you La Fiesta Lunes 3. Another night of intimate salsa to finish off the bank holiday weekend. Come along and dance to the Cuban rhythms and meet up with your salsa friends.
The fun starts at 8.00pm and goes on till just gone 11pm.. See you all there I hope.
It's party time!
Starting this Easter Monday 5th April Sweet Salsa are puting on a boredom beating end to the holiday. Come and join the Cuban Salsa Party starting at 8pm at the Conservative Club, Berry Lane, Longridge. See the image below of street view. The venue is located upstairs at the club and there is ample parking - some alongside the club and more behind the Co-op shop 50 yards down the road.
Numbers will be limited to 50 as this venue is quite small.
A big thank you to Rebecca for inviting us along to teach salsa moves to a keen group of university students during Mission Week. This is seven days of special events organised by the Christian Union and Wednesday this year was Dance Night..
We had been told to expect quite a big class but we were bowled over when 70+ keen youngsters filled the room. It was a diverse group too. The guys all looked a bit apprehensive and the girls were keen to start. The blue man(!) just observed quietly in a rather sinister manner. All eyes were on us and we didn't know how this was going to go - most present hadn't done any salsa at all so what to do? We figured that as they were university students they would pick things up quickly so we dived straight in at the deep end and proceded to go through the steps of a setenta move.
2 hours later everyone was dancing and most were smiling.. The girls all keen to learn more, the guys mostly ready to move on to the pub for refreshments. Julia and I stayed a while to answer questions and practice with our new friends.
We had a truly fabulous night with a great bunch of people. Thanks to all concerned.

First of all - thank you to all who came to the very first Sweet Salsa class at the Conservative Club in Berry Lane, Longridge on 4th January 2010. We hope that you learned lots and enjoyed the lessons after battling the winter weather to join us. But even the weather outside didn't affect the temperature on the dancefloor - it was hot!
Julia and I didn't know if anyone would turn up so were delighted to see eager dancers arriving an hour early! Though this wasn't over-enthusiasm; it was a mix up with the start time. But no problem, we managed to fill the time with an unscheduled introductory lesson. Oh, for future reference, correct start time is 7.45pm..
I hope everyone got home safely afterwards in the heavy snow and we look forward to seeing you next week. Let's make 2010 the year we have fun and get fit..
