Great Weekend Away
The Hydro Hotel in Bowness-on-Windremere once again provided the setting for the annual Noches de Salsa, Blackpool weekend away in the Lake District. 2 days and nights of dancing, drinking, sightseeing and outdoor activities. As always the venue provides a great base for any daytime activities that you care to take part in. This year saw everything from Segway riding, electric biking, walking, shopping, swimming, relaxing, taking a dip in the hot tub and many more. Julia and Steve elect to go electric biking and this goes a bit flat with a puncture 20 minutes into the ride but after a failed attempt to make a repair thanks to a passing mountain biker who lent us a patch (which the hire company didn't supply) a taxi is dispatched to recover the bike and rider. The good news is that no charge is made due to the inconvenience and complimentary coffee is served to us on our return to the hire centre (http://www.lindeth-howe.co.uk/). In all, a bit disappointing but we will definitely try electric bikes again.
Anyway, back to salsa.
Dinner is served early for the salsa guests as we all need to get ready for the early start to the dancing. A fun improver class is given on Friday by Alan Gater before the music proper starts at about 9.30pm. Friday is well attended and it's hot. Very HOT in fact. Saturday class is Bachata with Wayne. Great move and everyone appears to be giving it a good go. Tonight the air con has been on so it feels a bit cooler which is good. More great music till the early hours and, for those who can keep the pace, drinks and food in the bar afterwards. Not for me though, I'm too tired after all the dancing though so it's bed for me.
After breakfast it's time for goodbyes and we all wend our way back to Blackpool. Great time once again. Thanks Carol, Alan and Wayne.
